Who Knew?

Did you know that "Turquoise" is the 2010 Color of the Year?
Add Image

At least according to the folks at Pantone.com

Pantone (which is known as the standard language for 'color communication') has even created an on-line community for "color enthusiasts" to share their favorite palettes. Are you color-crazy? Pop on over and check it out!

As for the color of the year, I'm dreaming of white sands, turquoise bikini with matching bracelet and a slushy blue cocktail!

Pink Frills

My daily blogging took a sudden stop, but let's just pick up where I left us and finish this week in Pink!
Nothing goes better with Pink than Frills! Check out BLOOM for links on her inspiration for this "Frilly Dilly" bag.

Run Jane, Run!

One of my bucket list items is to publish a children's book. AmberAlexander would be my artist of choice for illustration. In fact, the descriptions she writes about her paintings are inspiration alone for a children's story. Like the one above, of which she writes, "A pink squirrel named Jane steals a strawberry. Run Jane, Run!!!!

This Week in Color - PINK!

I recently found myself looking up no-sew tutu tutorials all over the web. My inner girly-girl screamed, "Ive got to make one for my little princess!"
Look at her...I think she thought the whole thing was a bit ridiculous. Which of course it is. I mean, a 6 week old baby in a tutu? Before I had a baby girl, I would have said, "C'mon, is that really necessary?"
Yup, it really is.

This Week in Photos

I suggested to my husband that it would be a good idea to "build a little sandbox" for Grady. He made a comment about just bringing in a pile of sand and I laughed it off. Then, we came home one day and there it was in our front yard - the mound!
Boys will always be boys!
Let's just say I didn't warm up to it right off. It didn't help that it had been raining and it was wet (aka muddy) and that it was much taller than this photo shows, and that our 2 Chesapeakes immediately ran to it and did some business before digging and throwing sand everywhere.
But, Grady is loving every inch of it, so I couldn't stay mad for too long.

It's fun having a toddler in the house. You never know what you are going to find. Like coming into the kitchen and finding him sinking his teeth into a cup of applesauce he dug out of the cabinet.

Redwork

Rock Sea and Sarah offers this step-by-step tutorial for "Sleepytime Girl" in redwork. What I love is she includes links to how to do each step, too. This is helpful, since, SOMEDAY, I will try my hand at at this sweet embroidery! The site also offers a great little history lesson about redwork.

Rhubarb Strawberry Ice Cream

Have you seen the latest issue of Martha Stewart Living? It too is devoted to color.

Click on the image below to visit marthastewart.com for an egg-free recipe for Rhubarb & Strawberry Ice Cream! Two red things that go great together.

Leave it to Martha to come up with this combo! I've always loved Strawberry Rhubarb Pie or Rhubarb Crisp. But I hadn't imagined it in ice cream. Genius.

Have you used (or seen) rhubarb used in other ways? Well, give us the dish!
